“The history of electrical engineering education parallels the development of the electrical industry, particularly of the electrical manufacturing industry.” as stated in A brief history of electrical engineering education by Frederick E. Terman.

Electrical Engineering- “The branch of engineering that deals with the technology of electricity, especially the design and application of circuitry and the equipment for power generation and distribution, machine control, and communications.” This engineering field first became an identifiable occupation in the late nineteenth century after commercialization of the electric telegraph and electrical power supply. The field now covers a range of sub-studies including those that deal with power, electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunications.
